As many of you may have seen, the Nature Microbiology website is currently down [ironic hyperlink], showing the above error message and all the signs of life of a Norweigan Blue. This is not a journal specific outage but in fact is affecting many (but not all) of the Nature Research family of journals.

I apologize to our authors and readers for the inconvenience, and can understand that this will be incredibly frustrating to many, as it is for us.

We are working hard on getting the site back up as soon as possible - fingers crossed this post will have a short half life.

Maybe adding to this technical error: is there a reason why Nature Microbiology still does not pop up in NCBI/Scholar etc?

Hi Bram, Thanks for the note. The good people at the US NLM /NIH who run PubMed only meet twice a year to approve new journals to be listed in PubMed. We applied in March as soon as we had publish the required number of articles but the next meeting was not until June (sometime in the next week or so I believe). All being well we will therefore shortly receive the thumbs up for listing. We have already been approved for listing by SCOPUS and a couple of other services, and are on the case for the rest as well. Unfortunately these are the teething problems faced when launching a new journal. Cheers, Andrew
